My husband has purchased a camper to sit on a lot for work in Nevada. Our main tax home is in Texas. He works six weeks out and 10 days in. Can we use Camper as a tax write off for our taxes?

Is your spouse self-employed or is he a W-2 employee?
W-2 employees cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return. Job-related expenses were eliminated as a federal deduction for W-2 employees by the tax laws that changed for 2018 and beyond. Your state tax laws might be different in AL, AR, CA, HI, MN, NY or PA.
If you live in a state that lets you deduct job-related expenses, the information will flow from your federal return to the state return, so enter it in Federal>Deductions and Credits>Employment Expenses>Job-Related Expenses
First question: W-2 employee or self-employed? W-2, no. Self-employed, maybe.
Second question: Is this a temporary assignment that is expected to last and will actually last less than one year? If yes, you can deduct certain travel and lodging expenses. If the assignment will last longer than 1 year, or is indefinite (no fixed end date, regardless of how long it actually lasts), then travel and lodging is not allowed.
