If my cousins were placed with me legally by the court, then can I be considered head of household?

Head of Household is a special filing status used by IRS. Here is a link to the requirements to claim Head of Household.

You would need to answer yes to all 3 requirements to be able to use the Head of Household filing status. The article is written for 2020 but is true for 2021 as well.

Received 1099Composite for 2023 for my deceased cousin who passed in 2022 w/her SS on it. Payer will not change/correct the SS number to me as I am her heir. I do need to file an estate return because of her 2022 state refund - how do I handle this 1099?
