Daughter got married on her 18th birthday last March.
She is trying to file taxes jointly now with her husband but TT has rejected it. Something about being claimed as a dependent. I assume that means she's still listed as a dependent on our return. I do see a $500 credit in TT.
Do all I need to do is remove her from TT and submit an amended return on my side and then resubmit hers once mine is accepted?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Yes, that would do it.
As you said, you will have to amend your return first.
If you want to make changes, or add a document to a tax return that has already been submitted you should follow these guidelines.

Your daughter can then file fer joint return.
She may have to mail the return.
If necessary, TurboTax will give specific instructions.
Please remind her to sign a paper tax return. It is often forgotten.

Thank you. Yes my state and federal have already been accepted. I do owe this year. Federal hasn't come out of my bank account yet but State has as of today. Should I wait until Federal comes out to file an amended return?
I've done the amendment. Now I have to paper file which means they have to paper file in order to meet the April deadline unless they file for an extension.
Sorry even if you amend they will have to mail their return. So they don't have to wait for your amended return to go though. Once a ssn is in the IRS system you can't efile it again. You should be able to efile your amended return.
