I have noticed that my paycheck from my work study has been free from tax withholdings. Should I voluntarily with hold to avoid paying back when I file or am I exempt?

Can You Claim EITC with Work Study?

Workstudy income is earned income and so can be used to claim EITC if you otherwise qualify. The income is taxable but no social security tax is withheld. If your total income requires you to have a tax liability you should consider withholding.
