Yes, paying an individual to look after your kid, in your home or theirs, qualifies. You will have to show that person's SS# on your tax return (on form 2441)
Both me and my wife works and because of Covid situation we are working from home. My sister in law (SIL) moved from different city to our home because of Covid and also works from home as office coordinator.
Me and my wife both are busy in meeting all day, so our SIL take care of our kids because her work is not as demanding as our work and we are paying her $300.00/Month for this. Can i claim this money as Child Dependent care or not since she is my relative SIL?
please let me know.
Q. Can i claim this money as Child Dependent care or not since she is my relative SIL?
A. Yes, you can claim it. Being a relative does not disqualify her as a qualifying care giver. However, if you claim your SIL as a dependent, on your tax return, that would disqualify her.
