If you are self-employed, then you can deduct payments you made for rent as a business expense on Schedule C.
If you are an employee receiving a W-2, employee business expenses are no longer deductible on your Federal return. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act eliminated the employee business expense deduction for 2018 through 2025. Some state returns do still allow a deduction, so you can still enter the expense on Form 2106 for a possible state deduction.
