I'd like to ask the experts here if I can conduct my personal computer bought in 2019 as unreimbursed job expense (probably through depreciation calculation) in the NY State Form.
I am a college teacher, since this pandemic in March, we all have switched to remote teaching and learning. Because the office computer could not be taken home, I've been using my own personal laptop bought in 2019 to deliver all classes (with probably 30-40% personal use). I've been searching this topic online, as the IRS suggested that the expense has to be device that my company does not provide and I purchased my own. Although there was an dying office computer, it would not work if moved. I wanted to find out if I can claim some of the cost as unreimbursed return in the NY State return?
Many thanks!
