Can I deduct any mileage or expenses for travel to my daughters auditions?

She received a 1040 from her talent agency.  Does that mean she's employed and we cannot deduct these items?

If you are an employee and using your car for business travel and paying mileage out-of-pocket, then yes you can claim the expense. If you are just commuting to work, no matter how far away it is(even out of state), then no you cannot claim the expense.

If you can claim the expense:

1.       Go to the search bar in the top right and enter “job expenses, employee

2.       Select “Jump to job expenses, employee

3.      Enter your occupation and proceed to answer the questions

4.      When you arrive to “Any Vehicle Expenses or Sales?” select “Yes

5.      Continue answering the questions and enter the business mileage for your vehicle

6.       When asked “Did You Use The Standard Mileage Rate?” select “Yes

7.      Continue answering the interview questions until finished
Hope that this information helps you.
