Are personal property taxes for cars in virginia different than car registration fees? I paid a separate bill for personal property taxes for my personal vehicles?

They're technically different things, but you can still claim a deduction, if you itemize deductions.

Although auto registration fees aren’t deductible in Virginia, you are allowed to deduct the personal property tax you pay each year that's based on the value of your car.
