Where do I enter my personal property tax?

Don't confuse real estate tax (commonly called "property tax") with personal property tax.

Personal property tax is imposed on movable things (such as mobile homes, RVs, or vehicles) whereas real estate "property" tax is imposed on immovable assets such as houses and land. Real estate tax is entered in a different place in the program.

To enter your personal property tax in TurboTax, follow the steps for your product below.

TurboTax Online

TurboTax Desktop

  • Open your return.

  • Go to Federal Taxes.

  • Go to Deductions & Credits.

  • If asked How do you want to enter…?, select I’ll choose what I work on.

  • Under Cars and Other Things You Own, select Start or Update next to Personal Property Taxes.

  • Answer Yes to Did you pay personal property taxes in 2025?

  • Enter the amount you paid on the next screen and continue.
