Are meals while traveling for a medical surgery considered an expense?

I have to go to San Diego 2 times a year for a special surgery. So, my husband and I have to take a plane, get a hotel, rent a car and pay for meals. Are these meals an expense I can take when filing my taxes?

No, the meals while traveling are not deductible, however, the meals at the hospital are deductible (See: Publication 502 (2024), Medical and Dental Expenses)
