I am a MD National Guard soldier, using National Guard health insurance (called "Tricare Reserve Select") and enrolled in a MD-funded National Guard health insurance premium refund program (MD's "Health Care for Heroes" program). For 2024, I received a 1099-MISC with the refund listed in Box 6 Medical and Health Care Payments, which I believe is incorrect - I think Box 6 is for self-employed medical professionals to report their wages, not for the refund of premium I received. When I imported my 1099-MISC along with my other 1099's, TurboTax generated self-employment tax forms Schedule C and Schedule SE, which I've never needed before because I am NOT self-employed nor am I a medical professional.
Is my 1099-MISC correct, and did I enter it into TurboTax incorrectly? Thank you.

Follow these steps:
Thank you, that worked and was far easier than the self-employment forms! Hopefully your answer helps others in my situation, as it is a new refund program in 2024.
