When married to nonresident alien spouse what do put when doing my Massachusetts tax 2024

Hi to all;

I live in Massachusetts and my spouse leaves in Another country and I filed married filing separately on my Massachusetts tax form 2024.  Turbo tax keeps prompting me to add her social security but she doesn’t have a ss# nor INT# so what are the steps to take?
Please let me know how to proceed in filling my Massachusetts tax form or would I need to print them and file by mail ? If that is the case what should I add on the form to let Massachusetts government that my spouse is nonresident alien spouse.
thank you your help is appreciated

Yes, you will need to print and mail your return  Once your return is printed, you would write NRA in the social security section of the return.  Here is the procedure in Turbo Tax.

  1. Prepare your return in TurboTax.
  2. When you get to the Let’s get ready to e-file screen, select File by Mail.
  3. TurboTax will give you an error regarding the missing Social Security number or ITIN for your spouse. Proceed to print with the error, but write Nonresident Alien or NRA in the space for your spouse’s Social Security number before mailing in your return.
  4. Mail the return to the address on the instruction sheet that prints with the return.

You will do this for both your federal and Massachusetts state return
