Hi.
I moved from MD to CA in 2021, and between that and payout of my mother's life insurance policy (tax was only due on the interest earned on it), I decided to annualize my income, since it was earned unevenly throughout the year. (That was fun...)
I did that on the federal side. Maryland has picked up all the numbers, but in the "direct deposit of refund" (lines 51) part of Form 502 (I actually owe, due to the payout), it gives the code number as "302". It should be "301", but I can't change it even when I pull up the form itself inside TurboTax. (I'm using the desktop program, not the online version.)
According to the MD instructions (from the state's website):
"If special circumstances apply, you may not owe interest for underpayment of estimated tax. Enter the applicable code number on one of the code number lines located to the right of the telephone number area. Enter code 300 if you are a farmer or fisherman, 301 if your income was received unevenly throughout the year, or 302 if 90% of your taxable income is taxable by another state and the underpayment is not greater than the local tax."
Again - I told the federal side that my income "was received unevenly throughout the year" - and annualized it - but MD isn't seeing that for some reason. And 90% of my 2021 income isn't taxable by CA. I'd like to change the code to 301 from 302, but can't. Is there a way to do so?
Thanks.

Using the desktop version, I was able to right click and select override to change the code.
A MAC! Thank you for that. A picture is worth a thousand words. Here is how to override on a MAC.

Thanks. I thought I'd tried that, but just did again. Tried both key combinations and, separately, a mouse, I don't get an "override" popup or any sort of context menu. Should've specified I'm on a Mac.
I guess in the grand scheme of things, it's not huge (and hopefully doesn't make a difference in the calculations), but would like it to be correct...

AHA! Didn't think to look in the menus. That worked. Thanks!
