I am attempting to e-file my state return but Turbo Tax tells me there is an update required. When I check for updates Turbo Tax says my software is up to date, but I still can't e-file the state return. I successfully e-filed my federal return an hour ago.

Did you already electronically file your Federal return first separately? If so, what is it's e-file status? If you e-filed separately, you cannot e-file the state return until the Federal return has been accepted.
Try going through the REVIEW process again. Do you get any messages about why you can't e-file it your state return?
I did e-file the federal return first separately and the status is "Accepted". I ran the review process again and I still get the message that there is a software update and I need to go to the online menu to check for updates. When I do, it says I am up to date. Turbo Tax also shows that I have paid the state e-file fee
I have the same problem with state of Iowa. Federal tax filed "accepted". State software update. Compete update, still will not file
Please follow the steps in this article to correct the State Loop cycle you are in. You will then be able to e-file the state.
Have , federal, Colo, and Arizona turbo tax returns...Filed E-File Federal and Colo---Both accepted
First I was going to e-file Arizona then thought I would mail it because there was a small payment due.
But then decided to E-file AZ and Turbo Tax has a line/selection where it lets you "E-File AZ return"
Selected and it goes to next page and the first line says you can pay your AZ return by going to www.AZ.gov etc
A transfer to AZ Gov web site is done where i paid what was due. Back to Turbo Tax..Below the line www.AZ gov it asks you how do you want to pay. Then to next Turbo Tax instruction. How do you want to pay? Bank debit or check?
SO COULD NOT FILE THE RETURN WITH THE STATE..WOULD NOT LET ME DO
SO DID I PAY BEFORE I WAS SUPPOSED TO File Gary
Federal Return filing was accepted yesterday shortly after it was transmitted
Thank you but the StateCleanup.zip file did not resolve the problem. I contacted customer support and it turns out there was a known issue with Massachusetts state tax filing. They emailed a manual update that I was able to run which resolved the issue.
