Solar panel deduction

We installed solar panels this year that tie into our City's grid.  They gave us a rebate of $1500.  Can I deduct the total amount of the contract, or do I have to deduct the $1500 on my federal return?

No, you cannot claim the full amount.  You must deduct the $1500 from the total amount of the contract.
