We are retired and live out side of the city limits. Do we have to pay school taxes?

I am unsure what you are asking because you don’t say what city and state you are living in. 

 

Property owners usually pay school taxes. Your municipality may have some tax breaks based on age. Check your property tax bill and contact your local tax office to see whether your municipality offers tax breaks based on age or other factors such as veterans' status.

 

If you paid school district income tax because you lived in a city with school tax but moved outside the city, then you would not pay tax to that city tax but may pay a similar tax if your new home levies a similar tax. I’d have to know your state and city to be more specific.
