I live and work fully remote from my home in Florida for a Maryland based company.. due to improper filing of my onboarding paperwork, the company was processing MD state tax withholdings for my first year of work. Is there any way to file MD state tax return and get the full sum withheld back since I should be fully exempt from state income tax as a FL resident?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
And on that non-resident MD return you should allocate zero income to MD. MD does not tax non-residents on out-of-state remote income. Allotting zero income to MD should result in a full refund of the incorrectly withheld MD taxes.
Yes. You can file a non-resident MD tax return.
