New York doesn't allow e-file if you have local withholding on a 1099-G form, if that is the case, that could be the problem. Normally you can e-file with a 1099-G form in NY.
Your tax return may contain an error that is preventing you from e-filing, or you may have a form that is not yet approved for e-file.
If you want to try and e-file your state one more time, here is how to do it:
- Sign in to your Turbo Tax account.
- Scroll down to Your tax return & documents, click Show on the right.
- Select 2019 and then click Add a state.
- Select Review from the menu on the left side.
- If any errors are shown, you will need to correct them.
- Continue into the File section.
- Keep going until you get to, Let's get ready to file, select I want to e-file.
- Continue until your return is transmitted.
If you get an error message you don't understand, post your error message in Community and we will help you.
When you print your state return for filing, the parts of the federal return that you need to attach will print as well.
