I filled my taxes on 2/3 and Federal was accepted on 2/13 however the NY State taxes are still pending. It normally takes at least 48 hours according to Turbo tax and with past experience the acceptance was actually within the 48 hour time frame. Any idea why this year it takes longer?

Please take a look at the following FAQ: Why is my state return still pending?
I understand that it can take awhile, but my NM state tax return has now been pending for 12 days. I submitted both returns on February 12th. I have never had a wait time this long for NM to accept my tax return. I have already received my Federal refund, but my state return has not even been accepted.
State tax returns are not transmitted to the state until after the Federal return has been accepted. In addition, state e-files take longer than federal to be processed. State returns are transmitted to the IRS, and then the IRS forwards the return on to the state. The bottleneck may be with the IRS. As long as your return is not "rejected" there is nothing to be concerned about at this point.
Thank you for the information. I now have a better understanding of how the system works. My Federal return was accepted on February 12th, so that should not be the problem. It could be that the IRS is slow in passing my return to NM. I did contact NM Taxation and Revenue and they have no record of my return. I will wait some additional time.
