state of resident

Hi. I'm an NRA on F-1 status and I'm using turbotax for filling state returns only.

I've been studying in State A for most part of 2019, then worked as an intern in State B during summer. At the end of the year I moved to State C as a full-time employee.

What State of Residence should I put in turbotax?

You would file a State B part-year resident return, and a State C part-year resident return.  Unless you worked while in State A, you don't need to file a return for that state.

Thanks! There is a withhold on my W-2 for state A though. Does that matter?

Also my didn't earn anything in State C, why would I need to fill as part-time resident?

edit: I think I'm not saying it clear. I studied in State A, then worked as an intern during summer in State B, then went back to school to finish my last semester in State A, then went to Minnesota for my full-time job.

May I know which states are they for your state A and B?

State A is Maryland, State B is New Jersey and State C is Minnesota.

You will file state returns for in New Jersey and Minnesota. You may be required to file in State A if you have scholarship money that exceeds educational expense (If you claim an education credit) or if you participated in a work study that you received compensation. If neither those apply, then you will file a New Jersey and Minnesota return.
