New York State says I owe additional taxes

Good Morning, NYS taxation and finance sent me a letter that I owe an additional $400 is taxes due to a 1099 form the Dept of Labor sent them that I drew $8,000 in Unemployment benefits that I never received ? I have filed a dispute with the dept of labor but have not heard anything - The state gave me 45 days to provide proof that I do not have - Is there anything additional I can do about this ?

Call the state and ask what you need/can do ... you are surely not the only person with a fraudulent unemployment claim in NY.

I suppose your proof would be a verified copy of the UEC fraud complaint that you filed.
