New Jersey: Do I need to enter the amount my spouse paid into the Federal TSP on New Jersey state return, even though his w2 lists it as "D" a 401k?

His state wage box is higher than the federal wage box. He is a federal employee. I believe that he has a TSP, but the W2 lists it as D, a 401k.  Does his mean I need to enter it as additional wages to tax?

"his state wage box is higher than the federal wage box. "

Doesn't that tell you that his NJ wages were not reduced, as they would be for a 401k ?

The difference should be the contribution to the TSP (D on the W-2) barring other adjustments.

Just enter what is on the W-2 exactly as shown.

I entered the w2 information exactly  as shown, in TurboTax,  under income. I finished the federal taxes.  The question pertains specifically to New Jersey taxes. When doing New Jersey state taxes, we are asked to input any info from 403b, TSP etc  - I believe that New Jersey only treats actual 401k as non taxable retirement contributions and all other retirement contributions ( tsp, 403b, ?437 ) must be entered on the New Jersey  forms and then are taxed.  I am asking because my husbands TSP is titled D as if it’s a 401k. My 403b contribution is titled E as a 403b.
if anyone is federal government or has a 403b and  lives in New Jersey— is it correct that these contributions must be entered on the State form so that they can be taxed? ( the opposite of federal.) it’s weird there is an exception for 401k but these other retirement contributions are taxed income
