Moving to NH from MA, but I've always worked in NH. How will I file taxes?

I am about to move from MA to NH to be closer to work. I have always worked in NH and have been using a W-4 for MA income tax.

My question is: Now that I am moving to NH, can I remove the W-4 MA state tax deduction? Or, since I lived in MA for more than half the tax year, will I still need to pay MA state income tax when filing next year?

You will file a part year MA and a part year NH in the year of the move ... talk to your employer to get the correct withholding paperwork filed.

NH does not tax earned income.  It taxes only interest and dividends above certain amounts.

You will have to file a part-year resident MA tax return for the year in which you move out of MA.  If you neither live in nor work in MA after the move, then you would no longer have a need to withhold MA taxes after that point.

ALL your income during your time as an MA resident is taxable by MA.
