MI 1040 - No Place to Sign Return - No Income or W-2 - Only a Capital Loss to Carryover

I created a paper return for my son.  It is the first time he has ever filed.  He has no income (NO W-2)  at all but he had a capital loss in his UTMA that I want him to be able to carry over in the future.

I have looked at the MI 1040 that was output by Turbotax Deluxe Desktop and I cannot find any place for him or me to sign it.  I have look top, bottom and middle.  Can anyone please help me?

THis is really odd...here's the Page 2 of my Michigan 1040 'for filing' that was created by Turbotax...

Oh I wonder if Turbotax created a version for e-filing.   Because when I look at the PDF 'For my Records' the signature block is there.

@ClockerXP What you have shown is an IRS Schedule D that is included with the federal tax return.

Yeah...it's weird.  That is the 2nd page after the Turbotax Cover/Instructions page for my State return created by Turbotax.  Actually there are none of the typical pages shown at the beginning of a MI1040.  I wonder if the fact there is no W-2 is causing an issue.

That is Schedule D

Did you file a federal return for your son? That Schedule D would have been included.

You might need to try to print the Michigan return again.

It's not required to file a state return, just to carry forward a capital loss.  You only need to file a federal return.  And, It's debatable if a federal return is even required.

Oh that definitly sounds like a rational explanation.  It does make sense that a State return is not needed because State probably just feeds off the data in the Federal return.

That said, I would like to file the Fed return just so I can get the capital loss into a TurboTax TXF file he can import in a future year.   The Fed return appears as expected so I will file it via mail (efile not allowed for him).
