Hi all,
Back in April, for the tax year 2021, I filed an extension with Massachusetts and paid the amount that I believed would be due. I did this through TurboTax, and indeed, my home page reflects that this extension was filed and accepted, and the money was withdrawn from my bank account. Now, I am ready to file my actual taxes, and I am having two issues:
1) When I generate a preview of my MA tax return, I am still seeing a Form M-4868 (Massachusetts Income Tax Extension Payment and Voucher), which has a voucher that I would in theory send to Massachusetts to file for an extension and to pay the projected taxes owed. What is really confusing about this is that I already have paid this projected amount and filed the extension -- in other words, I am not attempting to file an extension now (I already have done so). I am just trying to file my return now.
2) Probably related to the complication of the above situation, I am only presented with an option to mail my filing and not to e-file.
Any insights on this would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you!

when you go to e-File, Federal must be e-Filed and ACCEPTED, before TurboTax will allow and proceed with state e-Filing.
When you go through the FILE step, you should get an opportunity to enter "payment made with request for extension".
Don't file without it.
OR,
do file without it and hope the state notices your credit for that payment and applies it when processing your tax return.
