A-101: New York City flexible benefits program (IRC 125)

If you participate in a New York City flexible benefits program, IRC 125, you must report the amount deducted or deferred from your salary as an addition modification to federal AGI on line 23 of Form IT-201, Resident Income Tax Return

It is reported on w-2 box 14.

 

If you did not participate in the New York City flexible benefits program, IRC 125,  try deleting NY Form IT-225. 

 

To delete, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. On Tax Home, select Start, Continue, or Pick up where you left off to enter your return.
  3. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  4. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  5. Select Delete next to the form in the list and follow the instructions.

In TurboTax desktop:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon.
  3. From the menu, select the form you want to remove.
  4. After the form is generated in the right panel, select the Delete Form button.
  5. Follow any onscreen instructions to remove the form or forms.

The same issue applies to me, and I cannot delete the form because the IT-225 form is not listed in the tax tool section. Where can I find it?

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

 

TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number (including the dash) that was generated in the response.

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)
