Is my 2021 amended returns pulling into an in-progress 2022 returns?

I realized I needed to amend my returns for 2021 AFTER I had already completed most of my 2022 returns. Will TurboTax automatically update my information on my in-progress 2022 Federal and State return or do I need to start 2022 over again? I had a refund in 2021 for both Federal and State but had to pay a small amount to both when I did the amended returns. It seems that the state refund amount that is pulling into my 2022 return is the original amount of my refund without taking into account that I had to send a payment with my amended return. I am concerned because both federal and state amended returns had to be printed and mailed instead of filed electronically so I am not clear whether TurboTax finalized the amended returns and updated the current year's returns.

Do you mean you amended 2021 AFTER you started working on the 2022 return?   If that is what you did, nothing from the amended 2021 return has gone to your 2022 return.  The only time any of the data transfers from one year to the next is when you transfer the tax file at the very beginning ---before you start entering anything for the new tax return for 2022.   Once you start entering 2022 data, you cannot transfer anything from 2021.

If you want the data from the amended 2021 return to transfer in to 2022, then you need to clear and start over.   Then transfer the amended 2021 tax file in to 2022 before you put in any other 2022 information.

Yes I already started my 2022 return before I realized I needed to amend 2021. I will follow your advice and clear and start over.

Is the process for amending a prior year return and then updating the latest return the same for Turbotax CD version?  Clear and start over for the current year?

Yes.  If you need to update a return with an amended return you have to start over.  You can only transfer into a new blank return.  But have you already filed 2022?  If you already filed 2022 you may also have to amend 2022 and nothing from the 2021 amended will pull into 2022.
