Independent Contractor in Nashville/Clarksville Tennessee

I was an uber driver in the Nashville area (living in Clarksville, TN) for almost 6 months last year.

I no longer live or work in Tennessee.

TurboTax is saying they don't currently have the TN documents to be able to file these state documents, and after further research I discovered it's because there is no income tax in Tennessee.

Does that mean I don't have to file taxes on any of the income I earned as an independent contractor in Tennessee either?

Also, why can't TurboTax just outright SAY that's why you can't eFile in TN? So disappointing that TT is willing to charge you for a tax service they might not even provide, and also can't even give you any reason as to why the TN documents aren't available? Y'all are supposed to be the tax experts and you can't be upfront with your customers about how Tennessee taxes work? I had to spend my own time doing research because supposed "tax experts" couldn't give me a real answer...really disappointing.

All your income is taxed on your federal return, but you don't have to include any Tennessee income on your new state return.

Tennessee never had an income tax. It taxed interest and dividends until the end of 2020 so there was no need to file TN tax on self-employment income ever.

TurboTax should not have charged you for TN because no return exists. If TurboTax did charge you, contact customer support for a refund.
