I work in Michigan but the company is based in Oakville Ontario and turbo tax will not let me continue until I enter a valid state and zip and I cannot do it

When you enter your W-2 in the location for the employer's address "US ADDRESS" is selected by default. Change it to Foreign Address, and drop-down boxes will appear and you should be able to enter the correct information. See the screenshot below.
