You will need to file 2 state tax returns (a resident tax return for the state of Massachusetts and a non-resident return for the state of New Hampshire). TurboTax makes the process easy. All you have to do is tell TurboTax that you worked in both Mass. and NH and then enter the information from your W-2(s) in the income section. TurboTax will guide you through completing both state returns. I have linked the full instructions below!
How do I file a nonresident state return?
Once you've determined that you need to file a nonresident state return (you do), the first thing you want to do is make sure you've filled out the Personal Info section correctly:
After you finish your federal return, you'll automatically move to the State tab, where you'll see your nonresident state(NH) listed in addition to your resident state (MA).
To ensure accurate calculations, we strongly recommend preparing your nonresident state return before you prepare any resident or part-year state returns.
