I am a New York resident. I have a 1099 from Massachusetts for just over $1000. Do I need to file in Massachusetts?

No, you do not need to file a Massachusetts tax return because you do not meet the non-resident income filing threshold.

As a non-resident, you need $8,000 in MA income before you are required to file a tax return.
