Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton is described as a "Major Disaster," but is it also a QUALIFIED Major Disaster? And what's the difference?

The FEMA code for Milton is DR-4834.

Thanks!

Hurricane Milton

Milton is a qualified disaster.  Any disaster with a FEMA code is qualified or tax purposes.  The IRS keeps a list of the various relief offered to those affected by these disasters HERE.

This list highlights things such as deadline changes that are in addition to the relief provided to all qualified disasters (such as the ability to deduct damages and withdraw certain retirement funds without penalty.)
