How to file and determine state of residency in MA and NY after moving and still working for the same company

I moved from MA to NY at the end of July 2022, but remained working with my MA-based company for the whole year. My company only took out MA taxes for the whole year. As of right now, I have not filed, but I started a MA state return and it has me as a part-time non-resident of MA. I am not sure if this information matters, but I am also still registered to vote in MA and still have my MA license, but my permenant address and banking is now out of NY. Does this make me a resident of NY?  Do I still need to file in NY is I did not earn any income in the state while living there?

How to file and determine state of residency in MA and NY after moving and still working for the same company

From your statement, it would appear that you are a part-year resident of MA and a part-year resident of NY, and would file each state return as such.  I have listed below links that should assist you with each state's filing requirements.  You say you had MA tax withheld for the year so what you will do eventually with filing is receive a refund for the period of non-residency with MA and, unfortunately, turn around and pay it to NY for the NY period of residency.

The fact that you still have your voter registration and drivers license in and for MA does not matter.

Since the periods of residency in each state do not overlap, there would not be a credit for taxes paid to another state taken on either return.  As you are now a NY resident, when filling out your state information, enter your data for MA first, as it is now the non-resident state, and then fill in your data for NY.  That is the procedure for entering multiple state data in TurboTax.  Non-Resident state first, then resident state.

In the Personal Info section of TT, enter NY as your State of Residence, and indicate that you also lived in MA.  Enter the date that you began living in NY.

After your move to NY, did you work remotely from a NY location for your MA employer, or did you continue to actually (physically) work in MA?
