How to e-file in New York when you don’t have your spouse's SSN# on paper form?

The downloaded TurboTax instructions say my state tax if prepared through turbo tax software need to be mandatorily e filed, in a previous thread I read “ disregard that message” , however I wanted to confirm if I mail in these forms will they know that it was prepared through a software.

Is it necessary for them to know that it was prepared through a software or not. This information is for internal purposes ONLY . You can go ahead and paperfile the NYS taxes. As to my knowledge, there is no restriction as to whether NYS must specifically be  efiled.
