I sold my California home in April of 2021 and purchased a new home in Missouri. We are renting in California temporarily and have not completely moved to Missouri yet. Do I have to show the Missouri home as a second home?

For what purpose are you asking? If it is strictly to report that you purchased a house, then no.

If you need to report mortgage interest, the CA home was previously your primary home, you sold it, and now the MO home is your primary home.

can I get my refund from the IRS if it is being withheld due to two un-filed tax returns? Is there relief if the missing tax return balance is due to ongoing hardship?
