I am a resident of State "A". I received income from State "B". Why do I owe taxes to State "A"?
Thank you

just like for Federal, your resident state generally taxes you on your worldwide (out of state) income with certain exceptions. note that for state A you should be able to claim a credit for taxes paid to state B
Thank you
