TurboTax does not let you know how much it costs to file state taxes until the end of filing. I had hoped to have e-filed both Federal and State at the same time, but when I got to the end it wanted to charge me $25. If I had known the cost, I would not have started the e-file for the state. Now I can't file by mail. It won't let me. I need help. It still thinks I want to e-file and wants to charge me.

What state are you filing a return for? You can e-file your federal by itself and then file your state return by mail after your federal is accepted.
File Federal Now - State Later
Kansas
You can e-file your federal return now and then file your Kansas return by mail after your federal is accepted. If using desktop software, you can remove the Kansas return, see images below. Click on the Review menu at the top, then choose the File Menu - and then Remove State Return. Choose the Kansas return and then click on Remove.
E-file your federal return. Once accepted, open the return, click on State Taxes, and start your Kansas return again. Click through the screens and when you go through the filing steps, choose File by Mail.
