I e-filed my federal return first and it has been accepted. Now I would like to e-file my state return. When I try to file the state return I get a message "To e-file, you must select your federal return". But I don't have an option to select the federal. How can I eFile my state return now?

See this TurboTax support FAQ for this problem - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/why-am-i-not-able-to-e-file-my-state-return-after-...
I have the same problem. It occured AFTER I paid $25 to transmit my state return. No errors had been found in the automatic error review process, until I'd paid the money, and then TT refused to transmit the file due to an error that somehow appeared after I'd paid the money. Disgraceful that a company that has sold tax prep software for decades would have this problem in their software. Two phone reps yesterday had no clue about this problem.
No, running the review process again did not correct the problem. I still get the same error message to select my Federal return but there is no way to do so because the option is no longer available after I eFiled my Federal return.
I have encountered the same issue! I e-filed both my federal and state. The Federal return was accepted and the refund was deposited into my bank account today. The state was rejected for having the state id number in form 1099-G when there wasn't state tax withheld from the unemployment benefits. I removed the state id number, saved and tried to re-e-file the state return, as the Turbotax program stated I could, and I am receiving a message stating I am required to e-file the federal return in order to e-file the state. I ALREADY E-FILED THE FEDERAL RETURN, IT WAS ACCEPTED AND I HAVE MY REFUND!!
When is intuit going to process an update to the software to correct the issue?
See the link below. Intuit is aiming to have a fix ready on March 19. You can sign up to receive an email when they have released the fix.
I received an update today (3/19) that fixed my issue. I was able to file my state return. Many thanks for resolving the issue.
