Filing state after federal refund

I filed federal taxes in early June. Receved refund. Now I want to efile state taxes, but turbotax subtracts my state responsibility from my federal refund. What should I do?

How did you file Federal?  Did you use Turbo Tax?  Did you mail it or efile?

Oh, that is just at the end.  Turbo Tax just shows you the net combined of federal and state.  But you will get the  full refund and  need to pay the tax due yourself.

Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbotax logo. If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay. Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.
