Do I need to include my GA state resident return with the ND state nonresident return

It sounds like you are filing a GA resident tax return and ND non-resident tax return.

The general rule is that the resident tax return (GA) will give a credit for taxes paid to another state (ND).  The resident state wants to know how the non-resident tax and tax credit was computed and asks to see the non-resident tax return.

Generally, the non-resident state (ND) does not request information from the resident state because it is not issuing a tax credit.

If you electronically file, TurboTax transmits the proper forms to each state.  If you paper file, TurboTax will provide instructions as to what forms are mailed to what state.

You are generally subject to tax in the state where you live and in any states where you worked.

Why are you asking this? Do you see an instruction somewhere to file your GA return with your ND return?

I am receiving credit on my GA return from ND taxes.  My GA state tax return states I need to submit copies of other state returns if receiving credit from that state.  The ND state tax (nonresident) return does not indicate one way or another if I should provide a copy of the GA return.
