Dividend Reporting Payer Name

The worksheet for Dividend reporting of Payee Name says my entry name is too long on Iowa State 1040. It is carried over from Federal.. The Federal filed on efile and was approved, but the State is hangup and won't efile until the problem is fixed. I believe it is fault of the Iowa state software, since Federal went through just fine and was accepted by IRS.

Open up your Federal return and change the name.  At our tax home, scroll down and select "Add a State".  We are not adding a state but this will open up your return to make the name change to the dividend reporting the  problem.  In the left hand column select "Federal" then go in and make the name change.  After you are finished, Select "State" in the left hand column to open up the Iowa return and hopefully the name change was transferred. Exit your return then try refiling the Iowa return.

The solution you provided worked to clear my error, but now it won't let me efile my state return because my Federal has already been sent and accepted by IRS.  The screen says efile your state return, and list my state to select. Beneath it says Federal return has been transmitted. Error message says E-file requires Federal return. HELP

That's a state filing issue for a lot of people...not just for an IA tax return....they are working to fix that particular problem....
