Can I remove a NY tax program & substitute a SC tax program?

When I said yes to an update it installed the SC tax program

Yes. While you are signed into your TurboTax Desktop version use the File option at the top left and then select "Remove a State Return". You will see the list of states so that you can select the one you want to remove.
