CA Nonresident, unearned income from education scholarship in Michigan. Why is Turbotax adding this to CA form 3800?

Thanks for the quick help on such an old thread. It makes me a little nervous to enter 0 in various places where the answer shouldn't be zero, but I'm pretty confident it won't get me in trouble, and it does seem to solve the problem. 

Thanks for the tip on the other credit. That seems not to work for us because the balance of the bill was paid by a 529 owned by a grandparent. Turbotax did handle that well -- no tax consequences for our daughter or for us -- though it was kind of a pain to find where to enter room & board expenses. (Tip for others with the same problem: when you get the question about whether you bought books or materials, answer yes even if you think the answer is no, and one of the spots that becomes available for is room and board expenses.)
