CA 540 software code error (Alimony)

I do not pay Alimony the federal worksheet reflects this. When I go to CA State 540 error check, It errors on alimony paid, SSN of person.  There is no way around it. Will not allow me to file electronically. because of ongoing error.

Still no solution. I can not e-file do to ongoing error. Very frustrating

Please try to delete the form and see if that resolves the issue. You can find instructions for deleting a form here

Deleting the form mad no difference. I tried several times with no change.

If you are getting this error message on your state return, please delete any information that may have transferred over from a previous year on your tax return. 

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click on Tax Tools.
  3. Click on Tools.
  4. Click on Topic Search and search alimony
  5. Click on alimony or spousal support paid.
  6. If you get to a summary page of alimony paid, use the trash can icon to delete the entry on the screen.
  7. If you do not get to a summary page of alimony page, answer No on the Did you pay alimony to a former spouse in 2020? screen and follow the onscreen instructions. 
  8. This should eliminate the alimony error on your California return.

No summary page. Selected no alimony paid. Same problem with CA 540. Federal form is fine. CA form still has the error.
