Allocate City Income

I lived in Yonkers for two months in 2024 (01/01/24 through 02/29/24). I also worked in Yonkers for all of 2024 and had tax withheld all year.  After indicating this on my NYS tax return, the following screen shows up:

"Allocate City Income  Because your residence changed during the tax year, you must allocate your income based on the time you spent as a resident of NYC or Yonkers.  Complete the Yonkers column if you were a part-year Yonkers resident."

I'm clear that I was a part-year Yonkers resident in 2024. However, what amount should I enter in the Yonkers Resident Portion? Is it the number listed in Box 19 of my W-2, or a different number? How would I calculate this?

Thank you in advance!

Your Yonkers income should be the amount in box 18 - Local wages of your W-2.  There should be an entry for Yonkers.  Box 19 would be the Yonkers tax withheld.

Thank you for your answer.

The Wages and Tips box is pre-filled out with my gross income for 2024. The box I'm having an issue with is the "Taxable Interest Income" on this screen.

For reference, this is what I see:

Do I have to calculate a specific number (for example, go back through my paystubs and see how much was withheld while I lived in Yonkers) or just enter the amount listed on my W2 under local income tax?

This is the only thing stopping me from filing my taxes. Thank you so much!

If you earned $167 in interest during the year you can go through all of your statements and add up the amount you earned while living in each location.  Or, if you lived in Yonkers 2 months and NYC 10 months, you can allocate $28 to Yonkers and $139 to NYC.  The amounts are small.  Don't let it bog you down trying to get the pennies exact.  Everything gets rounded when filed.
