Turbo Tax behavior Question when allocation is switched

Hi,

I have a TurboTax behavior question (not a tax logic question).

I initially selected “Allocate wages by percentage” for my NY W-2, but later switched to the conservative approach (100% NY income under convenience rule).

Now, even after selecting 100% allocation, TurboTax keeps taking me back to the “Allocate by percentage” screen when I click Edit on the W-2.

However:

  • My IT-203 worksheet shows wages correctly as 100% NY income

  • The final numbers appear correct

Questions:

  1. Is this just a UI issue, or is TurboTax still using percentage allocation internally?

  2. How can I fully reset the W-2 allocation method to “100% NY”?

  3. Do I need to delete and re-enter the W-2 to clear prior allocation choices?

Thank you!

    1. The most recent entry is used for calculations but the first entry is mapping and showing you the %.
    2.  Options:
      • State review may force the logic to refresh
      • Going through the percentage screen, delete any numbers in the percentage/days worked fields, and hit "Continue." Sometimes clearing the fields allows the software to recognize the section is no longer active.
    3. The tax forms go to the IRS, not the program. If your return is correct, it is not necessary. If it bothers you or your return is not correct, delete the w2. If you do delete the w2, follow these steps:

    Online version:

    1. Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
      • Don't use Internet Explorer.
      • Clear cache and cookies,
      • Sign in using a different browser.
      • Sign in using a different device.
    2. Log back into your return.
      • Enter the information again.

    Desktop version:

    1. Save your return while closing the program.
    2. Update the program
    3. Open
    4. Enter the information again.
