I am a retired Federal Employee under the CSRS Retirement System and do not receive Social Security Benefits.  Attempting to transmit my CA return but TurboTax Deluxe keeps flagging the Social Security Benefits section sayint SS Benefits amt must be entered.  It will not accept 0.00 or zero.  How do I get around this?  Thanks.

Did you accidentally access the Social Security portion of the program while looking where to input your 1099-R? You might try deleting the form for any SS triggering of the screen.

    Open your return in TurboTax.

    • In the left side bar, select Tax ToolsTools.
    • In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
    • Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet and follow the onscreen instructions

I did not select a wrong form.  This was on the California State return.  I ended up mailing the Tax Return to the FTB so now I have to figure out how to get a refund on my credit card for the electronic filing fee.  Apparently, for the State form, who ever wrote the program thinks every retiree receives SS Benefits but that is not the case.

    Thanks.

In order to receive a refund, you will need to contact our Customer Care department. Please click the link below and fill out the short form. https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/contact/.  Please state "Billing Issues" and not refund.
