Michigan - Pension

For the 2025 tax year, how do I know that the TurboTax software is programmed to allow for the 75% deduction for pensions. I have my taxes done but think the amount owed to MI is too much.

Thank you.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Locate your MI Form 4884
    2. Look at line 27 for the 75% deduction

If you don't see the 75% deduction:

    • Be sure the source of your pension is eligible for the MI deduction, double check your 1099-R entries
    • The standard MI deduction may be higher than the pension subtraction and therefore, it isn't used.

To view your entire return and all worksheets:

    • For online:
      1. On the left side, select  Tax Tools
      2. Select Print center
      3. Select Print, save or preview this year's return
      4. If you have not paid, select pay now.
    • In the desktop program, switch to forms mode.
