I live in MD.  MD intercepted my state return and sent it to DC.  I lived in DC in 2016 and part of 2017.  I lived in MD from May 2017 till present.  How can I dispute MD sending my state return to another state for taxes claimed when I didn’t live in that state during 2018.  A little all over the place so I apologize for the confusion.

you'll have to find out from DC what year they are collecting on.

Then, if you dispute, file a non-resident return for that year showing no income but Tax withheld (by MD).

Thank you for the reply! Do you think this is something I should get a CPA to assist with, or easy enough to do on my own?

thank you again for your assistance!

If DC  has a valid claim against you for 2017 (I missed that), it doesn't really matter that you were out of DC in 2018.
